Research & Development

How a Brand Seed variety is made.

From the first cross to the sealed packet, every variety passes through the same disciplined pipeline. It usually takes years — and that is the point.

1

Germplasm & goal-setting

We define the target — climate, disease, market — and draw parents from our living germplasm collections.

2

Controlled crossing

Selected parents are hand-crossed each season in isolated houses to create new combinations.

3

Selection & screening

Populations are screened in the field and lab, with marker-assisted tools targeting key resistances.

4

Multi-location trials

Advanced lines are trialled side-by-side with standards across governorates and planting dates.

5

Quality control & release

Only lines that outperform across seasons pass QC testing and earn the Brand Seed emblem.

Trial fields

Advanced lines are grown side-by-side with commercial standards across multiple governorates and planting dates, scored for yield, uniformity and disease response every season.

Every seed lot is tested for germination, purity and health before it is bagged. Batches that fall short of our threshold never carry the Brand Seed emblem.
